Does my child have to wear a cap while swimming?

Yes, all students must wear caps. Not only do caps assist with hygiene in the pool they also keep long hair off the face. Lycra and Silicon caps can be purchased at the pool.

Does my child need to wear goggles?

Goggles are a necessity. They help to keep the chlorine out of sensitive eyes and allow the children to see under the water. Goggles can be purchased at the pool.

How many lessons per week should my child do?

We recommend that children swim twice a week. This improves their ‘feel’ of the water, and also increases their strength and sense of feeling comfortable in the water. For our squad level swimmers, swimming at least twice a week is a necessity for positive progress..

How do I check my child’s progression?

Big Blue runs proficiency checks throughout the term. These proficiency checks are then recorded under the child’s file in our database. The deck supervisors as well as their coaches constantly assess the children.

How to cancel a lesson? Do I qualify for a courtesy lesson?

Please phone the office and notify the staff if your child is not going to be at their scheduled lesson. In order to qualify for a courtesy you need to cancel out of your lesson by 10AM that day and we will endeavor to find another class time for you for that week. Each child is eligible for one courtesy lesson per term.

Term Dates

We offer a year round swim service that has a two week break in the July School Holidays, and a three week break across the Christmas/New Year Holidays. We call the separate two periods Swimesters.

Swimester 1 2016: Monday 11th January – Saturday 2nd July

Payments

How do I re-enrol for the following term?

We automatically re-enrol all students in the same class for the following term, provided there are no outstanding payments on the account. If you do not want to continue lessons for the following term please notify the office.
